New Aqua primer for the mechanical engineering industry

With the new 1K Aqua primer DREISOCRYL-AQUA-GRUND X1520, Dreisol has succeeded in developing a one-component primer with outstanding corrosion protection and excellent adhesion properties on different surfaces. DREISOCRYL-AQUA-GRUND X1520 on the basis of a polymer dispersion is applied directly to the blasted or cleaned steel substrate or even to diverse plastics with dry film thicknesses of up to 80 µm. This new primer is used as corrosion protection for steel as well as an adhesion primer for various aluminium alloys and galvanised substrates. Used in conjunction with suitable top coats, long-term protection is achieved in machinery and systems engineering. In practice, a top coat can be applied after only 30 minutes drying at room temperature with a dry film thickness of 40 µm. The top coats can be water-dilutable 1K and 2K or 2K polyurethane-based coatings containing solvents from Dreisol’s product range. DREISOCRYL-AQUA-GRUND X1520 is also suitable for many plastics, e.g. PVC, ABS and PS. Due to the multiplicity of types on the market, we recommend carrying out a trial coating in the case of plastic substrates before proceeding to the actual coating. The AirMix / AirCoat method is normally used. It is also possible to apply coatings with conventional compressed air spraying (pneumatic spraying). The primer has good shear stability, making it easy to pump it through lengthy pipe sections. Early rain resistance is already available after 24 hours. DREISOCRYL-AQUA-GRUND X1520 is available in standard form in sand yellow (approx. RAL 1002) in 200 kg drums and 20 kg buckets. The new primer has already been successfully launched with several machinery and systems manufacturers.
